Who's In Charge of this Thing?
John Robison has been an actor and director for over 20 years, performing in & directing a wide variety of plays and musicals all over the Kansas City area. He currently performs with Improv-Abilities and the Roving Imps, and has performed with Full Frontal Comedy, Babelfish, Makeshift Militia, and the Hypothetical 7. He also recently performed at the 2008 Chicago Improv Festival.
John has acted as clinician and coach for groups such as the Hypothetical 7 and the Kansas City Improv Festival, helping improve on-stage presence, learning character-building techniques and fixing common improvisational problems. (Check out the Workshops page!)
John trained and performed at the
world-famous i.o. (Improv Olympic) in Chicago, and has trained with the
Second City Touring Company of Chicago. He was founder and artistic director of the Better Than Fair Players in Bonner Springs from 1995-2003, has directed musicals at Bonner Springs High School and Basehor-Linwood High School, has written three plays, and toured Europe as a featured soloist in 1997-99 with various choirs.
He loves working with students, and has been a middle school and high school teacher in Basehor-Linwood and Tonganoxie, Kansas. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas, and a master's degree from the University of Missouri.
