Workshop schedule!
Saturday, Nov. 12, 11:30am-2:00pm
Play with all the Things: An Intro to Theatrical Clowning (Kristen Schier)
Find out how to use yourself and everything around you as a vehicle for pure play, and spontaneous theater. In front of an audience we can sometimes close ourselves off. We prevent ourselves from following our joy. Daring to be seen by the audience at every moment, will, in turn, reveal a whole world available for play. This workshop is perfect for those interested in unlocking playfulness, becoming more aware of how they are perceived by an audience, and anyone interested in clowning or developing solo work.
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2:30pm-5:00pm
Listen Like a Therapist (Amie Roe)
Psychotherapist and improviser Amie Roe distills thousands of dollars of graduate school and improv education down to one easy workshop*! Learn some tips and tricks for deep listening and how to make yourself truly available to your scene partners.
Sunday, Nov. 13, 10:00am-12:30pm
Freestyle Rap (Buck & Clint Vrazel)
We'll demystify rhyme, flow, hooks, imagery, point-of-view, beat-boxing, and more with fun foundational drills and games that build skills applicable to improvising song lyrics, Shakespeare, or poetry. Unlock your inner rap star!
Sunday, Nov. 13, 1:00pm-3:30pm I'll Take the Physical Challenge! (Amie Roe)
Slime! Buzzers! Trivia! Improvisers of all experience levels and backgrounds are invited to explore the use of physicality to create characters and scenework as compelling and spontaneous as any Nickelodeon team-based competition show. Heighten your awareness of your physical presentation, the way you interact with your environment, and use of space. Marc Summers would approve!
Sunday, Nov. 13, 4:00pm-6:30pm
Acting Schmacting (Kristen Schier)
Let’s talk about our feelings! The best improv comes from allowing yourself to be vulnerable when all eyes are on you, so stop protecting yourself with that contrived "schmacting"! In this workshop we will explore playing scenes with real emotion. You will learn how to launch yourself headfirst into an experience, engaging both physically and emotionally. No “schmacting” necessary.
Bonus: PizzaProv party immediately following the final Sunday workshop for all participants!
