Current Open Classes:
Improv, All Levels: Mondays, 7:15-9:15pm
It's like an acting class without those pesky scripts! Through classes at the Roving Imp Training Center, you'll learn how to give your characters emotional connections, quick thinking, appropriate reactions, movement, presence, and all the other topics you would find in other acting classes, only it six times easier because there's no memorization. Feedback is immediate, targeted, focused, and above all, constructive. This class studies short form improv games and intensive scenework to improve technique. You'll love this class because it's low-stress and accepting.
Sketch & Special Projects: Sundays, 7:30-9:00pm
Learn to use your improv skills to generate scripted material - learn all the basics of coming up with plot and memorable characters, and then use them to create amazing recurring sketches. This class will also experiment with projects in audio and video, as well as projects involving new and social media.
Class at the Roving Imp Training Center is at its temporary home at 607 W. 27th Terr., Lawrence, in the workshop in the rear of the lot (go around the left side of the house, and you can't miss it). Classes will cover all the major subjects of improv, and specific instruction will be tailored to each student's need.

Instructor will be John Robison, owner and founder of the Roving Imp Theater, operating in Kansas since 2007. John has trained with I.O. (Improv Olympic) in Chicago as well as tons of the best improv teachers of the day, all based on a 25+ year foundation of scripted acting. Under his leadership, the Roving Imp ensembles has performed in festivals in seven states, and produced five nationally known festivals. Former students are now performing improv in places like Chicago, San Francisco and London.

Students in the RI Training Center get free admission to all Roving Imp shows, as well as opportunities to offset class tution by working various jobs at the Roving Imp Theater. We're more into making art than we are making money... let's talk!
